The new James D. Veatch Camp Breckinridge Museum and Art Center is set to open in Morganfield April 16. Daniel Mayer, a German prisoner-of-war at the camp during World War II, was the principal artist on the historic murals that make up the museum's showcase.

Visitors to the museum, which will initially be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, will also be able to see exhibits of the Union County Historical Society.

You can get a sneak peek at the museum's offerings below, however, in the form of photos by Gleaner photographer Mike Lawrence.

Also be sure to check out the story on the museum by Features Editor Donna B. Stinnett who got to take an early tour of the training-camp-turned-culture-center.
