The Unicorn Players

The Unicorn Players, Union County's community theatre, named for the county and its major crop - corn - the group is currently in its seventh season. They are always looking for new members both onstage and behind the scenes.

Judy Holliday is chairman and can be contacted at 270-389-9121 and for those interested in performing, the artistic director is Richard Holliday. Holliday is a former professional actor and director who retired to Morganfield in 1993.

The group began as a committee of the Union County Arts Council in 1993, but as its members increased the Unicorn Players expanded into an independent group. The Unicorn Players is an active participant in the community offering entertainment free of charge for school and club groups and has also performed for fundraisers in Henderson and Marion, Kentucky.

"We expect our people to have the same energy, enthusiasm and talent that theatre groups have in large cities," Holliday says, "and we have not been disappointed."

The group has performed eclectic selections including comedy, drama, musicals and audience participation mysteries sometimes offering dinner theatre as well as evening and matinee performances.
